Joao Felix has completed his transfer to Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr, departing Chelsea Football Club on a permanent basis.
The Portugal international leaves Stamford Bridge just one year after joining from Atletico Madrid for a £42 million fixed fee, plus £4.3m in add-ons.
What happened?
Felix made 20 appearances in all competitions for Chelsea last season, scoring seven goals before being sent out on loan to AC Milan for the second half of the campaign.
He will link up with countrymen Cristiano Ronaldo and Jorge Jesus, the former Benfica and Sporting CP boss who has been appointed as Al-Nassr’s new head coach.
In his first words since completing the deal, Felix said: “I’m here to spread joy. Let’s win together.”
Why it matters for Joao Felix
The 25-year-old's move to Al-Nassr could be a fresh start for the player, who had a disappointing spell at Chelsea.
Chelsea could receive up to £43.7m (€50m) for Felix, although a large proportion of the transfer fee is wrapped up in bonuses.
Al-Nassr will pay an initial £26.2m (€30m) fee and £17.5m (€20m) in potential add-ons.
What comes next?
With Felix gone, the club are now expected to move forward with their pursuit of RB Leipzig star Xavi Simons.
The attacking midfielder is likely to cost around £61m, with Carney Chukwuemeka potentially going in the other direction.
Christopher Nkunku, Raheem Sterling, Ben Chilwell, Renato Veiga, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Axel Disasi could also leave the club this summer.
The transfer window has been busy for Chelsea, with the club raising £135.7m from sales so far.
